The adventure begins

On Monday, I will start my adventure to gain residency in Canada. I will be approaching an immigration bureau to discuss my options, find out what the process is and how much it will cost. From what I have read so far, it can take between 18-24 months for the process to complete. Some people have reported that it has taken them 4 years before being able to get to the stage of ‘landing’.

At the moment, the plan is to take 6 months out and just live in the country, however the more I think about it, the more difficult that is going to be, what with the new job starting in January and trying to work out how much it will cost to live for that period of time. Whatever happens, I will still be visiting in August and maybe visit some friends I have made over the Internet.

This adventure is not going to be an easy one. I know this from a friend of mine that migrated from Australia to England. It has taken her more than two years to finally get here, but she is here now. I hope to do the same with regards to moving to Canada.

I am looking forward to what the future holds. I hope that I will be able to make a new and better life for myself. I hope that I will be able to make friends along the way, and get to know the friends I have already made better than I do now.

I may not get there when I want, but I will get there. Just you wait. ;)
