Law enfarcement

Police at workI had the most bizzare experience with the police today.

I was driving towards home along the dual carriage way and had to stop at some traffic lights. A police car was in front of me. Before all this, I saw ‘blue lights’ racing up behind me, I pulled over as you do, to let them past. Anyway, driving down the road after the traffic lights, I indicated to turn into my street, they then indicated and turned in. I thought nothing of it and continued. As I approach the house, I indicated, they then indicated and pulled across the driveway blocking my path.

I sat there for a minute and thought about getting out of the car and asking them if they didn’t mind moving so I could pull up onto the driveway, then I noticed there was a big enough gap to get the car though, so I swung the car ’round the front of them onto the drive. One of the officers face was a picture as if to say, “what the hell?”, I was half expecting one of them to get out of their car and come over and knock on my window.

So I sat in the car for a minute, waited for one of them to get out of their car and walk over, nothing happened. I then picked up my phone, switched off my handsfree kit for the phone and got of of the car. I then opened the back door and collected my laptop and closed the door.

I stood there looking at them for about 10 seconds as if to say “what?”, I then locked the car and went indoors. Literately seconds of me entering the house, they drove off.

I know I did nothing wrong, I know there is nothing wrong with my car, I know I’m fully taxed, MOT’ed and insured. So what were these officers doing? Personally I think they were purely wasting time waiting for me to make a mistake.

Sorry officer, but shouldn’t you be looking for real criminals?

Update: It could be possible that the police were doing a PNC check on my car, so as soon as I pulled up onto the drive, got out of my car and entered the house, the realised the address matched the registered car address and drove away. Go figure?

I'm with you on this one, don't the traffic police realise that they are alienating so many law abiding citizens and that at the end of the day they can only police with the consent of the majority? By the way nice to read another Sussex blog, there's not many of us about.
