No more than 5 bags of change a day
On Saturday, I tried to pay in about 10 bags of change (properly bagged up) into my Halifax savings account. Upon getting to my local branch I was told I am only able to pay in a maximum of 5 bags of change a day per customer. What total bullsh*t! Aparantly this has been a policy for a year however I was not informed about the change in banking rules with regards to paying in loose change.
Personally, I felt that the attitued of the cashier was totally unexceptable. For a start she did not meet my expectations, she refused me to put money into my savings account and was totally rude and would not answer any of my questions.
A previous incident was when I had over £500 go missing from my current account. Somehow my card was cloned and used, upon phoning the bank the girl said to me, ‘Well, your card expires in a few weeks’ .. I was like ‘No, I want to cancel it NOW! I don’t want to wait a few weeks and I don’t want any more money coming out of my account!’
Another incident was when my debit card expired, they never sent me a new one. It took four attempts at requesting a new card before it arrived, by which time it had been two weeks since my card expired.
Well, there you have it. The Halifax bank officially sucks in my book! However, there is another way..

ive been with my bank (ill not advertise here) for 25 years since before being a student and they know my mum, dad and my whole family
the personal touch is so important these days
i can take in 100bags of change (and i have taken over the 5 bags in on occasion) and they'd take them with a smile
basically they know how to keep my business cos they make me feel like my business is appreciated!
change banks mate, you pay there wages at the end of the day, i had a similar experiance with the woolwich where they sent my card, statment and new pin to the wrong address! by chance i knew the person at the other address. been with barclays couple of years now, couldnt be better, take in as much change as you can carry, (i have before now done that 2 mins before closing, still got served with a smile!)
